C-DAC's Certified Professional Importance of the Certification
The
IT industry operates in a sea of continuous change. Each day sounds
the death sentence to older technologies while newer ideas take
shape. This is triggered by the ever-changing nature of electronics
and is a reason for the perennial development of device drivers.
Writing device drivers is one of the most popular skill sets that the
IT industry seeks at large. With the proliferation of Open Source
tools and technologies, the Linux Operating System gaining
significance is much sought after. In this regard, Linux Device
Drivers is creating many more avenues for employment.
Awarding certification in a highly dynamic domain is a challenge and in this regard, limited programs have been instituted this far. All the same, there is an urgent requirement that the industry is able to gauge its employee's expertise in the subject. Through this certification, C-DAC seeks to award candidates, a grading; based on their expertise in the constructs that Linux provides to develop device drivers. Having sound knowledge in the internals of the Linux kernel is the most important requirement to write good device drivers. As the hardware changes every day, the driver constructs in Linux remain more or less the same and is a mandatory requirement, which will be evaluated through this certification.
Who can take the Certification?Any IT professional, any Degree / Diploma holder, any final year UG / PG student with sound knowledge in Linux System Programming and strong C skills. He/she should be proficient in practical C programming and should have completed a course in Operating Systems. Important concepts of Programming and Operating Systems like File handling, Synchronization, System Calls and Device handling should be known. Areas of Concentration

NOTE:
A candidate can take the test directly if he/she feels that
he/she has adequate degree of knowledge in topics prescribed for
Certification Test.
Certification Fee: INR 5000Registration Fee towards certification is INR 5000 /- (Five Thousand only) which includes access to the e-learning courseware. If for any reason, the candidate is likely to postpone the test taking date to the next batch after providing the login, the candidate needs to pay an extra fee amount of Rs. 2000 /- either through DD or NEFT payment. Mode of PaymentDemand Draft A
Demand Draft of Rs 5000 (Five Thousand only) drawn from any
Nationalized Bank in favor of C-DAC payable at Hyderabad, has to be
sent to the following address. To, Cheques are not accepted. Behind
the DD please mention the course name, choice of your test center
and the username which was used for registration at
www.elearn.cdac.in NEFT
Payment
You can pay the course fee by crediting the amount directly through NEFT mode into the mentioned BANK accounts. Written
test will be conducted at identified centers across India. The
duration of the test is 2 hours. The
question paper carries objective type questions with negative
marking. With
each wrong answer 0.25 marks would be deducted. The
minimum score to get certified is 60%. Results
will be declared in about 2-4 weeks from the date of test conduction. All
candidates will be informed via e-mail. The results will also be
uploaded to C-DAC Hyderabad website. The certificates of the
qualified candidates would be posted to the correspondence address
mentioned while registration. In
case of failure in the first attempt of the Test, one has an option
to retake the test, by paying a fee of Rs 2000/- (Two Thousand only),
either by DD or through NEFT payment. The candidate is
allowed to appear for retest only during the next certificate exam
conducted by C-DAC. Tests

are expected to arrive at the Test venue an hour before the scheduled
time. Test
rooms shall be opened half-an-hour before the test and instructions
sheet will be handed over to the candidates 15 minutes before the
scheduled start of the test. No
reference materials, printed, self-authored, notes written by the
candidate, will be permitted into the Test room. Any
Test material taken out of the Test room by a candidate will warrant
nullification of the test and test fees will be forfeited. The
admit cards will be sent through email which the candidate has to
take a colour printout and use it for the Test. The Admit cards will
be sent only after the payment is done (refer to section on
Registration process). Admit
cards contain, along with other details, the venue of test and
photograph of the candidate. In
case the candidate does not receive his/her admit card 5 days before
the scheduled Test date (excluding the day of the test), they are
expected to contact C-DAC, Hyderabad for clarifications. Under
no circumstances claims of reissue of a lost/non-receipt of admit
card will be entertained on the day of the Test. The
name and address of the test center will be informed along with
Admit Card. No
request for change of test venue will be entertained once a venue
has been allotted.
They
must NOT write on any other medium other than the ones issued by the
invigilator. Candidates
may NOT talk, gesture or make any attempts to gain attention of
other candidates while the test is in progress. Eatables
are not allowed in the Test room. Consumption of tobacco and alcohol
is strictly prohibited in the premises of the test centres. The
test would be conducted twice in a year. The registrations are
allowed till 15 days before the test date. The registration form for
the test is available on-line at www.elearn.cdac.in.
Visit www.elearn.cdac.in, click on Register Now and fill the
registration form. The final registration page will be displayed,
take a printout of it. Do the payment either by Demand draft or
online payment (Refer to Mode of Payment available). Send the
registration form, resume, passport size photograph, and copy of your curriculum marks sheets
along with the "Demand Draft" or "Online Transaction
Receipt" to C-DAC Hyderabad address. The Final admit card will
be sent to you through e-Mail only. (Thus, please fill proper email
address and keep checking the e-mail regularly). |
